Luggage Parts Guide

What to check before ordering luggage parts

Use this checklist after you find a candidate and before you buy. Its purpose is to catch wrong-generation, wrong-position and weak-evidence matches.

Ten checks before purchase

  1. Exact luggage identity: capture the complete model/style/product ID, including suffixes and regional variants.
  2. Correct component: distinguish wheel from housing, zipper pull from slider, lock presence from replacement lock, foot from guard, and service hardware from retail spare.
  3. Position/location: verify left/right/front/rear, main compartment, interior sleeve, rear guard, or other stated location.
  4. Revision or production window: do not merge adjacent generations.
  5. Identifier provenance: know whether the number is OEM, specialist/aftermarket, or generic marketplace.
  6. Status: read VERIFIED, LIKELY, UNVERIFIED or DOES_NOT_FIT together with its compatibility basis.
  7. Negative evidence: search the same part number/family for DOES_NOT_FIT rows and conflict notes.
  8. Dimensions: use geometry to eliminate mismatches; never let dimensions override an explicit source conflict.
  9. Source scope: distinguish exact spare-part fit from component presence, collection accessory or repair-service capability.
  10. Missing proof: if the exact mapping is still missing, use the manufacturer product-code/serial/service workflow rather than guessing.

Three common stop signs

DOES_NOT_FIT Wrong generation

ACC-ZP10 is explicitly outside a later Baseline zipper-pull window.

What it proves: The generation mismatch is known.

What it does not prove: Similarity cannot rescue a known exclusion.

DOES_NOT_FIT Wrong variant/color SKU

ACC-5196-7 olive is excluded for @work rolling briefs that are instructed to use black feet.

What it proves: A suffix/color variant is a real boundary in this scope.

What it does not prove: Same screw count does not make variants interchangeable.

UNVERIFIED Catalog component without bag crosswalk

Eagle Creek C-Clip is an official replacement-parts catalog item without a reviewed exact bag mapping.

What it proves: The catalog identity is real and useful.

What it does not prove: Ordering for a named bag still needs the product-code/support link.

Stop if a DOES_NOT_FIT record matches your bag, revision, size or position. A different positive record for another scope is not permission to ignore the conflict.
