Zipper pull vs slider vs chain: identify the broken part first
“Broken zipper” can mean at least three different components. Naming the wrong one is a common way to order the wrong repair part.

Compatibility methodology · Editorial policy
Original zipper-anatomy diagram. Component identity comes before compatibility.First identify what actually failed
- Pull or tab: the piece your fingers hold. A replacement pull does not automatically replace the slider.
- Slider: the moving body that joins or separates the chain. Its size/specification and zipper location can matter.
- Chain/teeth: the sewn zipper track. A pull or slider record does not prove chain compatibility.
- Record the zipper location: main compartment, interior/suiter sleeve, expansion section, pocket, or other location.
- Add collection and production window before using a repair-kit SKU.
Generation conflicts are real: a familiar family name is not enough. Preserve production windows and explicit non-fit rows.
Accepted database examples
VERIFIED Briggs & Riley ACC-ZP10-4Baseline main-compartment spring-loaded-slider pull, 1993–2006.
What it proves: The OEM SKU, component location and published generation scope.
What it does not prove: It should not be extended to post-2006 Baseline luggage.
Open compatibility record →VERIFIED Briggs & Riley ACC-ZL10-5Baseline main-compartment spring-loaded-slider pull, 2006–March 2022.
What it proves: A later OEM generation window for the same repair category.
What it does not prove: The shared family name does not make the earlier ACC-ZP10 family interchangeable.
Open compatibility record →DOES_NOT_FIT ACC-ZP10 family on 2007–March 2022 BaselineThe database keeps the old-generation kit mapped to the later period as an explicit conflict.
What it proves: That the queried generation is outside the old kit scope.
What it does not prove: A visual match or similar pull shape cannot override this exclusion.
Open compatibility record →LIKELY Travelpro P4036Z0401 sliderFlightCrew 5 Suiter Sleeve, style 3604; catalog language says 3604 ONLY.
What it proves: A strong exact-part candidate with a narrow model/location restriction.
What it does not prove: The evidence review does not promote it to VERIFIED because the reviewed manufacturer-origin document is mirror-hosted.
Open compatibility record →UNVERIFIED Eagle Creek generic replacement pull catalogOfficial replacement pulls exist, but several public catalog pages do not map them to exact bag product codes.
What it proves: Component existence and catalog identity.
What it does not prove: Exact bag compatibility without the product-code crosswalk.
